What It Means To Take Responsibility and Why It’s So Huge For Your Confidence

Taking responsibility is a huge element in building lasting confidence!

Something I work with all my clients on is learning that they must take responsibility for their lives, circumstances, and future. And often, they don't really like hearing this at first!

Taking responsibility sounds like work, daunting, annoying... and it forces us to shine a light on our thoughts, choices, and beliefs, as well as our actions and decisions that have been driving so many of the current results in our lives. YIKES. Often when this topic first comes up, my clients don't realize that they’ve kind of been walking around half asleep, being tossed around by life, told what to do and how to think, and operating as if they have no control or power in their own life. That, or bluntly, blaming everyone and everything for their circumstances.

Taking responsibility does include some uncomfortable, vulnerable feelings…you do have to face your shit.  Face what you’ve been doing to keep yourself stuck or from being everything you want to be.  How you’ve been attracting certain things into your life or repeating patterns that you swear you hate and don’t know how to fix.  BUT.  Once you have this clarity, once you realize how much of your experiences are actually within your control and how much power and influence you have, it’s incredibly liberating and empowering!  When you realize you get to CHOOSE, rather than just being at the mercy of the waves and cycles of life, it’s empowering as fuck!  You start to see that if you have a belief that doesn’t serve you anymore, you can change it!  That if you want to do something amazing for yourself, you absolutely can!

What also comes with taking responsibility is stopping any sort of blaming or reliance on other people.  Now this isn’t to say people haven’t hurt you or done shitty things, or that you shouldn’t have healthy relationships where you can rely on others, but it helps you to not put things that are your responsibility on other people; i.e. your happiness, your growth, your boundaries, your dreams.

Taking responsibility helps you stop settling, change things that aren’t working, and shift out of victim mentality and into taking control of your life!

Having a coach can really help when switching this mentality and focus.  A coach helps you see things from different perspectives, and uncover those limiting blocks and patterns that have prevented you from making these changes for yourself sooner or that have caused some of those undesirable experiences.  They help you create a plan and determine the best steps to take to move forward powerfully.

This is just a portion of how I support my clients in feeling unstoppable and in love with life, and ultimately, building unshakeable confidence.  If you’d like an ally, someone helping you navigate through these things, and helping you break free from whatever is holding you back from everything you want, I’d love to support you.
